West Music was founded by Mr. Pearl West (1914-1999), who first teamed with Pete Peterson to open Peterson-West Music Company, a small music instrument retail and repair shop, in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1941. The Peterson-West partnership was later dissolved, with Pearl West establishing his own West Music small instrument repair shop in 1942. Today, the expanding West Music Company continues to be a family owned and operated business, with Stephen West, son of Pearl and Eleanor West, serving as Chairman of the Board, Robin Walenta as President and Ryan West as Senior Vice President.
